Community Meeting on Underage Drinking

You are invited to attend an important community meeting
Wednesday May 7 in Lac du Flambeau about Underage Drinking. This meeting will also serve as our monthly Lakeland Area Community Meeting.

According to the most recent Positive Alternatives Coalition Drug Free Community Survey (December 2007) given to over 700 6th-8th grade students from across Vilas County, 40% of these students first drank alcohol before the age of 14. According to this survey, our local youth report underage alcohol use at levels higher than both the national and state averages, a compelling reason to come together, understand the issues and explore solutions.

The meeting will be held from 5:30pm-8:00pm at the Lac du Flambeau Wellness Center, located on the east side of Hwy 47 about 1/2 mile south of the LdF Grade school.

Opportunity for Positive Change through Communication

Lakeland Area Community Meetings
  Students and Adults Invited

The Intercultural Leadership Initiative (ILI) staff and Positive Alternatives Coalition (PAC) are pleased to invite you to a series of community meetings. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss the social issues in our community (race, culture, economics, etc) in order to find solutions to ensure the safety and success for all of our young people. They will be facilitated by ILI staff and others from our community and will focus on celebrating our diverse local perspectives.

We've had wonderful turnout for our first meetings. This is a living, breathing process. We will make mistakes and, if we truly honor one another, we will help each other learn how to do things better.
